Runners in the marathon raise thousands of pounds to help vulnerable and isolated children and young people. On May 20th, 2012, it will enter its sixth year as one of the most distinctive marathons in Europe.

Printfest announce printmaker of the year

Printfest, the annual artist-led event which is now in it’s eleventh year, has announced Kelly Stewart as its 2012 Printmaker of the Year. Kelly was nominated by Edinburgh Print Studio and was chosen from a short list of artists to undertake a residency in Ulverston and exhibit her work at Printfest in May.

Lanternhouse to close it’s doors

Following Arts Council England’s funding cuts, Lanternhouse spent the last 12 months investigating alternative business models and funding opportunities. However, they’ve now made the difficult decision to close on 31st March 2012 in order for the charity to consider future possibilities and options.

£500 prize up for grabs in youth news competition

The West Cumbria Managing Radioactive Waste Safely Partnership is holding a competition for young people to produce a balanced news report about a possible nuclear waste repository in West Cumbria. The winner will receive £500 and there will be three runners up prizes of £150.
