A one day programme designed to help individuals to develop their assertiveness skills and feel happier about the way they handle situations and people.

Objectives

At the end of the workshop learners will be able to:
* Confidently deal with a wide range of people including senior colleagues, team members and professionals from other disciplines, customers, friends and family members
* Handle conflict with tact and diplomacy
* Communicate effectively and establish requirements
* Utilise various assertiveness models including fogging, 3 step model to assertiveness, discrepancy assertion and saying no
* Identify sources of stress and coping strategies

  • Icebreaker activities
  • Defining assertive behaviour – self assessment
  • Body language – effects of different behaviours
  • Assertiveness techniques
  • The 3-step model to assertiveness/saying no/discrepancy assertion/fogging
  • Practice sessions – review
  • Case Study Work – communicating with senior colleagues
  • Case Study Work – dealing with a sensitive situation with a member of staff
  • Handling complaints

The course will be presented by Julie Bell Consulting Ltd, the “largest private training provider of ILM Qualifications in the North West”.
