Emergency First Aid at Work Training Course
This course covers essential first aid skills. It is designed to give anyone the knowledge and confidence to deal with a first aid situation. It concentrates on core, first-on-scene skills, which are integral to all first aid. The course is provided through practical training and hands on scenarios.

This course covers essential first aid skills. It is designed to give anyone the knowledge and confidence to deal with a first aid situation. It concentrates on core, first-on-scene skills, which are integral to all first aid. The course is provided through practical training and hands on scenarios.
From October 2009 the HSE will recognise this one day course under the heading Emergency First Aid at Work. Up until then only the four day first aid at work course was used to define a first aider in their workplace. This new course will give lower risk workplaces the opportunity to instead use a one day course to provide first aid provision.
Key Content
- Accident Procedures: Essential life saving systems for assessing and treating unconscious casualties.
- Resuscitation and choking: Applying the latest protocols to deal with non-breathing casualties.
- Bleeding: We will look at dealing with major bleeds.
- Scenarios: Throughout the day we will use scenarios to put the theory into practice.
The course reinforces the need to make contingency plans… the interactive group sessions were a very good idea – makes people really think – Oxford University ??It is surprising how much more confident I feel now approaching a crisis situation… I feel much more aware of safety issues and more confident in problematic situations… The course is useful to get you thinking about things you may already know but don’t always consider – looking at fieldwork in a different light – Leeds University
