BBC Blast Work Experience
Placement Dates: 27th July – 16th August 2009
The BBC Blast Work Experience scheme is designed to give 18 – 22 year olds the opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience on the Blast Tour.
Blast on Tour
Blast inspires young people to get creative. Whether you’re into dance, music, animation, film, fashion, writing or more, Blast gives you access to the UK’s leading creative talents and an opportunity to learn the latest skills, showcase an existing talent or have a go at something new!
This year’s Blast truck will be touring 27 locations across the UK offering FREE workshops, master classes and showcase platforms for young people. Organising the tour is a huge undertaking and we are looking for dynamic young people in each of these locations to help us with the task!
What You’ll Do
The WEX scheme gives you the opportunity to be part of the BLAST team in Barrow. It’ll be fun, it’ll be hard work and it’ll be a fantastic opportunity. During your placement you will have the opportunity to:
- Prepare for the BLAST tour arriving in Barrow
- Promote the event to local young people
- Stage manage, film and edit our live shows
- Help run workshops
- Get Blast out Loud training, and run Blast out Loud
- Run the front of house at the event
- Plus much much more
What we are looking for
We’re looking for young people who are passionate about the arts/media, interested in event management and enthusiastic about working with young people!
You’ll need to be dedicated, enthusiastic and committed and be able to work with us full time for three weeks. (If you have other commitments we will try to work round these).
You must be aged 18–22 to apply for this programme.
BLAST OUT LOUD
One exciting new feature of the 2009 Blast tour will be Blast out Loud – working like an on-site radio station – playing out live and recorded Blast content (music / speech/ drama / comedy) across the event site, providing a welcome and giving out information. Radio professionals will train you prior to the tour event and you will then run BLAST out Loud on site!
