News. What's going on in Furness
On the bus to Barrow
On Wednesday 21st November, students from Lancaster University boarded a bus for Barrow and paid their second visit to meet employers in and around Furness. As in April, the trip has been hailed a great success.
More than 20 students travelled to Furness on 21st November to meet with potential future employers. Three company tours were hosted during the day; with Centrica, Agilisys and Diamould. At each of the sites, students received warm hospitality and presentations highlighting what each of the companies were looking for in terms of graduate talent.
It was then on to the Nan Tait Centre for an evening reception filled with informal talks with creative businesses from the area. The students toured the art exhibition whilst enjoying a buffet of local food specialities and film work produced by Shoreline Films, We Make Media, Northern Riviera and Dream Time.
The students were impressed with what they had seen and heard and employers were also pleased. David Clark of Centrica said “Barrow has a very unique offer for students. It’s a great place to live and there are some solid job opportunities here too. We welcome you to Barrow and our companies will work hard to attract and retain the best talent we can find.”
The evening was hosted by Furness Enterprise, as part of its Encouraging Entrepreneurship in Furness project.
