An evening with Super Jam
Furness Young Professionals has hit on success once again with a visit from King of Jam Fraser Doherty, the founder of Super Jam.
On Friday 6th February 20 year-old Fraser travelled from Edinburgh to join The FYP in the Duke of Edinburgh to give an inspiring and entertaining talk about the business he founded at just 14.
Aptly named after its ‘super’ fruits ingredients that are high in health benefits, and with no added sugar, Super Jam has become a globally famed and loved brand. And The FYP could only agree.
Half way through the delicious meal that followed Fraser’s talk Will Lawrenson of the FYP subtedly opened one of the jars that Fraser had bought with him and began to eat it in spoonfuls. It wasn’t long before everyone wanted to try the legendary jam, so bread was brought to the table to allow everyone a taste. The result? About 40 new Super Jam fans and converts to Fraser’s empire! Fraser’s talk was just as well received, with many FYPs saying it was the most inspiring business talk they have ever heard. Fraser’s story is one of grit and determination, as well as social responsibility. Having launched the company using his Gran’s jam recipe at the tender age of 14, Fraser quickly learned that in order to take the business to financial success he would need to learn to deal with the big supermarkets. It was a tough road ahead but Fraser would not let set backs affect his passion to succeed. As a mark of this dedication Super Jam is now stocked in the worlds biggest supermarket chains and sets to continue its global expansion.
But Fraser’s interests don’t stop there – he has been running tea parties for elderly people to socialise and get out of the house. Fraser sponsors the events himself and it was heart warming to hear the impact the parties have on individuals who rarely look forward to outings and social events. The FYP now hopes to run a tea party in conjunction with Super Jam for people in Barrow and looking forward to seeing Fraser again soon. So watch this space!
