Go Furness

News. What's going on in Furness

Introducing Ulverston's first Sustainable and Green Fashion Show!

The Big Green Fashion Show is an exhibition of eco-friendly clothing by local and national designers and manufacturers, showcasing what is happening in the quickly evolving eco-fashion realm.

We are looking for budding designers with a flair for recycling to enter the DIY Eco-Rag Fashion Contest. Prizes will be awarded “for the outfits that most capture the attention of our discerning audience!”

“High fashion” usually means “high price,” but the Big Green Fashion Show is challenging this by inviting designers to create head-turning out?ts using second-hand garments and fabrics and altering and combining them in new ways. The Charity Shop Challenge is open to anyone in Furness who can source an out?t from Furness charity and second-hand shops.

See also how eco fashion has evolved from hippy to hip with fair-trade, and organic garments from Olive. We are looking for models to strut the brands who’ ve taken up the eco-conscious mantle producing trendy pieces that use environmentally sensitive fabrics and responsible production.

Models and designers can enter in more than one category.

This event will be carbon neutral. This means you are invited to bring your own plates, cups and cutlery, and join us for a barbecue at Ford Park. The event will be licensed by Ulverston Brewing Company, so do arrive on foot or bike and enjoy yourself! We will be featuring some fantastic local acoustic music as the models take to the catwalk. Any energy used will be o?set by planting trees at Ford Park according to the plans for the gardens.

If you really want to get into the swing of it, arrive in your best eco-clobber!

Entry fee is £4, and tickets are available from Olive 581559 or on the day.
