Twenty years in the making, this stunning, sexy war film from the internationally acclaimed blockbuster director Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, Total Recall, Starship Troopers) is an epic and moving tale of great courage and fierce emotion – played out against the dying explosive months of WWII. September 1944 – Nazi occupied Holland, when her temporary safe house is destroyed by a bomb, the beautiful young Jewish singer Rachel joins fellow refugees in an attempt to reach safe Allied territory by boat. Intercepted by a Nazi patrol only Rachel escapes the tragedy. Desperate for revenge, she joins the Resistance where, assigned a new identity, she is charged with infiltrating the German Security Service by seducing senior officer Muntze, hurling her into a deadly web of double-dealing and betrayal.

This French thriller is a slick, cinematic treat. When a serial killer is caught he confesses to eight murders, but denies killing Margot. The police believe that he is responsible and therefore close the case. Margot’s widowed husband, Alex, finds it difficult to cope; his job as a doctor helps him to escape during the day, but at night he is left to ponder on his wife’s mysterious death. His life is once again turned upside down when two more women’s’ bodies are found and Alex is sent an anonymous email with a link to a video-surveillance web-cam and a time at which to watch it… Instead of being able to let go of the past, he is forced to revisit it.
“A gripping thriller, this deserves to cross over from the subtitled bracket into mainstream cinema.”
Empire Magazine
