Student Wins Placement Award
Stephen Crossley, a fourth year undergraduate studying Management and Entrepreneurship has landed first place in the Lancaster University James Milnes Placement Award. The award is given to the student that is judged to have made the greatest impact to the company they worked with during their placement, based on feedback from business managers.
Steve worked at Accenture as a consultant on projects in the banking, telecoms and drinks sectors. Based out of the London office, Steve was assigned to projects in Leeds, Leicester and London city with responsibilities ranging from running a project management office to facilitating workshops and designing process improvements.
Steve comments; ‘I learned a lot from working with Accenture, and I was exposed to different industries and ways of working that I don’t think I could have gained from a placement with any other company. I don’t think I could have asked for a better and more broad exposure to the corporate world. It was also good to work with consultants at the top of their game and take on increasing responsibility’.
Following the placement, Steve returned to Lancaster to complete his final year of university, in which he continued to run UNI-T Designs, his promotional goods business. He states ‘It was good to experience a global company at the top level, as previously my experience had been with smaller businesses and my own business. I plan to build on this experience in the future and run my own business full-time in due course’.
