David~FYP Photographer
David is new to Furness but hasn’t wasted any time settling in and meeting new people. He is a self-funded graduate having obtained a BSc in Drama and Music and now doing a complete Management Masters Degree. He is a graduate Project Manager at BAE and is just finishing his thesis before he treads the boards of the shipyard.
David has always had a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit and has used his skills and passion in photography to support himself during his student years in Belfast. He is particularly skilled at event photography as you can see by his images of the Big Green Fashion Show. He has set up his own business called Fotogenesis and has been investing heavily in his rather slick photography equipment. He would like to really establish this business in Furness and is doing what he can to promote his work and make as many contacts as he can.
To add to these talents, David is also an accomplished musician and teacher and spends some of his time teaching the saxophone. He thinks he might be the only teacher in the area who teaches the sax as his first instrument. He has already made links with the Abbey Musical Theatre Company and will be involved with their up and coming productions.
I asked David what he was doing his thesis on and he said ‘Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and the X Box! He added that the subtitle was ‘Strategic Diversification through Innovation’. Well, it all went over my head!
He has moved to Dalton and I asked him what he liked best about it. He said everything! He loves the friendly people, the quietness, the greenery, the cost of living (compared to Belfast) and his LPG conversion on his car. What he doesn’t like is that he can’t find a Chinese that does a mixed meat honey soy sauce or a dance teacher!
He is really keen to establish his business here, to do as much photography as he can and break into more wedding and event photography and family portraits. He can be contacted through his website www.fotogenesis.co.uk where you can see a gallery of his work. He assures me that he keeps his prices down for anyone in the drama business and would be keen to help young students get portfolios together.
Give him a ring if you have an event you would like him to photograph your event and check out the images from the Big Green Fashion Show.
