Emma Davies

Another in our series of profiles on ex-students of Barrow Sixth Form College – some of the people who have gone on to do great things after starting out in Furness.

Emma left the Sixth Form College in 2001 having taken A levels in Geology, Geography, English Language & General Studies. She studied at the University of Edinburgh from 2001 -2005 for a BSc Geology (Hons) and University of Aberdeen 2005 – 2006 for an MSc Petroleum Geology.

In 2006 Emma took some time after completing her MSc in order to travel. She visited several places including Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii.

From 2006 to the present time Emma has worked for Maersk Oil North Sea UK Ltd as a Geologist on their graduate programme.

Maersk Oil is an International Oil company with offices all over the world, including Copenhagen, Aberdeen, Houston, Qatar, Kazakhstan and Norway. Emma is currently based in the Aberdeen office and works as a Project Geologist on a UK North Sea oil field called Dumbarton. She is currently involved with a major drilling campaign that will add five new production wells to the field. Emma has also had the opportunity to write and present a technical paper at a major international conference.
