Will Miners

Will Miners is an Ulverston-based photographer.

After finishing 6th Form, and gaining a deferred entry into Bristol university to read Computer Science and Electronics, he decided to take a year out from his studies to travel the world and spend more time on his hobbies: music and photography. After helping set up and promote the Van Der Waals event in February, he took his camera along to the event for fun, and spent the evening shooting the artists and exhibitions. After these pictures were displayed on the website for the event, and on his own personal page, Will quickly realised that his skills as a photographer were in demand. He was asked to cover the recent “Superjam” event, with these pictures being shown on the Gofurness website, as well as in the Evening Mail.

Born in Barrow, and growing up in the Lake District, Will has always been inspired by his surroundings. He noticed the contrast between the industrial towns and the beauty of the Lake District, and this has enabled him to develop skills photographing both subjects. His series of photos from recent trips to Prague and New York are particularly notable for their contrasting architectural styles, and he points out that he spent more time looking through the viewfinder than anything else!

After covering the Van Der Waals and Superjam events, Will is also keen to develop his skills in this area. He has been asked to photograph some future events for the Furness Young Professionals, and is also able to shoot other products or events. His versatility means that he can adapt to almost any situation, and is constantly experimenting with new techniques: his love of the technical side means that he is constantly tweaking settings to get the perfect finished product. His passion and attention to detail shows through in every shot.
